Women in industry : round 4

The 5th edition of Watt Else took place in October ! The Vallée de l’Energie, a traditional partner of this event which highlights energy, organized another 100% feminine action on Friday 2nd October : « Women in Industry ». Following on the wave of success, the event mixed the same key ingredients : professional women in industry, young girls wishing to find out more about this sector and a series of round tables to get talking.

L'Industrie au féminin : 4ème round

A 4th edition crowned with success

This edition can boast awakening interest among a number of secondary school girls from schools in and around Belfort. Among those present : the secondary schools Simone Signoret, Goscinny and Mozart, as well as Follereau and Condorcet.

The formula stayed unchanged but the format was exceptional as 75 girls came to spend a morning within the walls of Belfort CCI.

Who did they meet ? 14 women from industry with different career paths and posts. Many companies were represented, showing off the industrial wealth of the Territoire : Alstom, General Electric, Altran, Assystem, Endress + Hauser, Lufkin, LGE… All in all, a concentration of different backgrounds contributing to the face of industry today.

Inter-generation exchanges around industry

« Industry is a world of men and for men », a received idea that is wrongly widespread and that the women professionals present wholeheartedly refuted.

The young girls present had the chance to interact freely with their industrial godmothers for 4 hours. A circuit of speed meeting - style round tables enabled the pupils to raise their questions, especially concerning how to juggle family life and working life, academic choices, what it feels like to be a woman in industry, the missions and stakes of their profession … criss-crossing views that favorized spontaneous exchanges and identified girls’ needs.

This event remains a key action for the Vallée which intends to consolidate its role as a bridge between the worlds of school and industry. With this dynamism in mind, a « walk in the Vallée », set at General Electric, will enable actors of the academic framework to go behind the scenes of the industrial world on Friday October 16th.
